Unionen A-kassa is the second largest unemployment fund in Sweden with almost 750,000 members. They make decisions on membership and unemployment benefits under the Unemployment Funds Act (LAK) and the Unemployment Insurance Act (ALF). Unemployment insurance is a transition insurance in the event of unemployment and their work affects the everyday lives of many people
They have about 300 employees, of which just over 250 are at the Stockholm office in Skanstull. Terese Nordensvärd, who is Section Manager for the Operations Support section, works here and her team includes financial staff and office hosts. The office hosts are the ones who ensure that all services at their three offices in Stockholm, Malmö and Örebro work, which includes coffee, food and drinks for employees.
With Convini we got a full-service provider
The Union’s unemployment fund had its first Convini store installed in 2022.
“We were looking for a meal store for our employees and Convini was the obvious choice,” says Terese. “Today we have two Convini stores in the Stockholm office and one in Malmö. In 2024, we expanded our cooperation with coffee and water from Convini in all three offices. So now we really have the total supplier we were looking for,” says Terese happily.

Why did you switch to Convini and how did it happen?
“We had another coffee supplier before and we were not satisfied,” says Terese. We experienced long lead times, low commitment and ordering routines that did not work. We had already started a collaboration with Convini regarding the meal store, which we were very happy with. The combination of the fact that we were not satisfied with our then coffee supplier and that we wanted to have a complete solution with as much as possible gathered to one and the same partner, meant that we started discussing with our contact person Camilla about switching to Convini on the coffee side as well. But we were locked into the contract with the previous coffee supplier for a while longer. Camilla then made sure that we got help from Convini to solve the contract early and it all went very smoothly. Since then, we have a complete solution from Convini, which now provides us with the Convini stores, coffee machines and water towers,” says Terese.

So what was the difference between ‘before Convini’ and ‘after Convini’?
“Convini is responsive and we always get a great response,” praises Terese. “The best thing is that everything just works! We don’t have to do much, they take care of refills, orders and service without us having to spend time on it. They keep track of our coffee stock and if we ever want to make a “support order”, it works smoothly. Convini is also solution-oriented when we sometimes have a special request or need,” Terese continues.

“Our employees are very happy with the coffee and the coffee machines. Many people shop in the Convini store and appreciate having food and drink available at all times of the day. It is not just lunch that is purchased, many people buy breakfast and snacks / coffee and cold drinks, “says Terese.
Would you recommend Convini to other companies? What is the reason for this?
“I would definitely do that. The most important reasons are that Convini offers a total package and that they are responsive and solution-oriented. And the employees get access to food and coffee that makes the working day more pleasant without requiring time and effort from us as an employer. Everything just works!” Terese concludes.
