The Øresund Bridge connects Denmark and Sweden and has been in existence for over 20 years. The Øresundsbron Konsortiet is located at the bridge in Limhamn just outside Malmö, a workplace where there is activity around the clock, 365 days a year. We meet Jeannette Schöön who is a service coordinator with employee well-being high on the agenda.
Jeannette works as a service coordinator and is responsible for issues related to the premises. She is the one who makes sure that everything runs smoothly, every day. In total, about 100 people work here and it is a mix of operating staff, technicians, traffic managers, etc. There is also a reception and offices for HR and finance.
A workplace that is always open
– We are open 24/7, 365 days a year. It’s busy here most of the time and in our workplace there is always a need for food and drinks. That’s why Convini is perfect! In addition to our own staff, both customs and police have access to our premises, including the Convini store and coffee machines,” says Jeannette.
Appreciates the availability and level of service
– Our workplace is a bit “off”. There are no restaurants or shops nearby. That is why we have chosen to have both Convini and our own restaurant. The restaurant has limited opening hours and closes at 14.00, so it is very good that Convini is in place with availability around the clock, says Jeannette.
– Convini is a company that constantly wants to develop and make improvements. For example, our contact person ensures that we get to do tastings of coffee varieties, which is very much appreciated. The service staff who bring food and coffee keep track of what is consumed and what needs to be replenished. It’s simple and easy for us. As a customer, you just want everything to work and without interruption and it does with Convini. And if something needs to be fixed, they are here without delay.
– The overall concept is a strong advantage, that we have both food, coffee and water from one and the same supplier. A strength of the collaboration is that we have a good dialogue with our contact person Nellie and that we develop the collaboration together, says Jeannette.
Cares about the coffee culture and a pleasant working environment
Øresundsbron is committed to creating a pleasant environment for its employees. Food, drink and coffee play a big part in this.
– We have a great coffee culture here at work. It’s nice to gather around coffee and maybe something good to go with it. Many people drink “regular” coffee in the canteen and then they want “gokaffe” from Convinis machines, for example an espresso after dinner or a caffe latte for the afternoon snack. The company offers breakfast every Friday and on Friday afternoon we usually take turns to bring home-baked goods to the coffee hour. The fact that we have pleasant environments both in the dining room and in a lounge area with comfortable sofas is a strength. Together with food and coffee, it becomes an appreciated gathering point,” concludes Jeannette.
Facts about the Øresund Bridge
The Øresund link consists of a bridge, an artificial island and a tunnel. The bridge is 7.8 km long in total and opened in 2000. The artificial island of Peberholm connects the bridge and tunnel of the Øresund Fixed Link. Approximately 6.7 million vehicles crossed the strait in 2022. There is a toll station that all vehicles pass through and a traffic center. Traffic is monitored around the clock by staff at the traffic center at the toll station. Monitoring is done both manually via cameras and automatically via a number of meters and sensors throughout the link.
