From a love story to a coffee classic
Zoégas was founded in 1886 in Helsingborg by Carlos and Maria Zoéga, whose shared passion for dark roasted coffee laid the foundation for the company’s success. Carlos brought experience from coffee’s homeland, Brazil, while Maria was a determined entrepreneur – together, they created one of Sweden’s most beloved coffee stories.
When Carlos passed away suddenly just two years later, Maria took over the business alone and continued to drive the brand forward. By personally promoting the coffee herself, she quickly built a reputation for outstanding quality and great taste, making Zoégas a natural choice for cafés and restaurants in Helsingborg.
Over time, the reputation spread far beyond Skåne, and with its focus on craftsmanship, quality and perfection in every roast, Zoégas has built a loyal following and left a lasting mark on Swedish coffee culture.
