What is a whistleblower case?

A whistleblower case arises when an internal or external individual who comes into contact with the company perceives serious misconduct. The law is designed to protect whistleblowers from retaliation.

  • The misconduct reported should be serious, such as financial crime, bribery, environmental offenses, major safety risks, as well as severe forms of discrimination and harassment.
  • The misconduct should be committed by a person in a leadership role who holds a key position within the organization. The law applies when reporting work-related information about malpractices that are of public interest to be disclosed. For it to be considered of public interest, the issues must be serious.
